What happens during a coaching session?
After an initial intake session with your coach, most sessions will
take place over the phone (In-person coaching sessions are available
upon request). A typical coaching session will take place once a
week and each session lasts between 30-40 minutes. During that time
the client chooses an issue they want to focus the session on. The
coach uses a variety of tools to help the client get clarity and
move forward on the issue. These methods include; asking the client
empowering questions, helping the client reframe the issue to get
more perspective, brainstorming ideas, helping the client to hold
the focus on the agenda at hand, setting well formed and achievable
goals, helping the client to set up an action plan and provide
support and encouragement. The coach may assign “Field work” for
the client, which may involve reading material, self-assessment
exercises, or journaling. The coach works with each client on an
individual basis tailoring the coaching methods to match with the
personality and learning style of the client. The client’s progress
is monitored by the coach, who assists the client in keeping on
track in pursuit of the client’s chosen goals. The goal of the
coach is to help the client succeed in attaining their chosen goals!
How long does coaching normally last?
On average between 3-6 months but the coaching relationship can last
as long as the client desires to utilize the many benefits of
coaching.
